{october 2018 photowalk announcement}

In an unprecedented move since the start of monthly photowalks we have had since January 2013 and even yearly photowalks that I started leading since October 2008, we will be walking at midday (2:30 pm) on South Congress. Yes y’all at midday 😱😱!! Came up with the decision with the help of a friend or two to allow folks to possibly attend other walks in the morning or the evening. We will be doing this walk as we customarily do being part of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk (please remember to follow this link to sign up to possibly win prizes from Kelby folks)!

Meeting location: South Congress Hotel at {1603 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704}
Walk end location: Hotel Saint Cecilia at {112 Academy Dr, Austin, TX 78704}
Parking location: There should be street parking along south congress but please be mindful of the signs where you park especially if you park by a neighborhood off South Congress!
When: Meet at 2:30 pm at South Congress Hotel and get the group shot on Saturday October 6th, 2018

1. Head north on S Congress Ave toward W Monroe St
2. Turn left onto W Monroe St
3. Turn right toward W Gibson St
4. Turn right onto W Gibson St
5. Turn left onto S Congress Ave
6. Turn right onto Academy Dr
   Hotel Saint Cecilia will be on the left
   112 Academy Dr, Austin, TX 78704
7. Head east on Academy Dr toward The Cir
8. Turn right onto The Cir
9. Turn left onto Drake Ave
10. Turn right onto Park Ln
11. Turn left onto Nickerson St
12. Turn right onto Gibson St E
13. Turn left onto S Congress Ave
    Pass by Hopdoddy Burger Bar (on the right)
14. Turn left after STAG Provisions For Men (on the left)
15. Elizabeth St turns slightly right and becomes Brackenridge St
16. Turn right onto E Monroe St
17. Turn left onto Nickerson St
18. Turn right onto E Milton St
19. Turn right onto S Congress Ave

What: Socialize, Take photos, share photos! Walk until 5:30 pm. The plan is to meet up at South Congress Hotel at 2:30 pm, get the group shot, and walk until 5:30 pm. The goal is to go down alleys and alternate routes to connect the two locations and get some unique photos. There will be lots to take photos of: architectural structures even possibly flowers or people, locations to explore, and lots of details. We will be exploring around South Congress in the afternoon.

Why: Community! We are hanging out and walk as we take in the sights and sounds with lots to see. Please dress layered as it may be warm and then cool down.

How: RECOMMENDED: Bring Tripod, camera, off camera flash, creativity. Socialize when you come. Share photo ideas on the walk. You can also share online in the flickr group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/photowalksatx/. If you are not a member yet, just request membership. There is also a google community at Photowalks ATX community that you may request membership to. Also subscribe to the email list to get the email notifications in your box for the next walk!

To fully participate please make sure to be properly hydrated, dress appropriately too, wear comfortable walking shoes, talk to someone you do not already know.
